i have to questions about backlinks... Do i have to wait for my site to be listed in google b4 i can check my backlinks (i have over 100 but google still shows none, i submitted my site yesterday.) and the sites that link to me... do they have to be listed in google to count? Thanx

First backlinks nowadays may not show up for some time. Maybe up to 4 months. Second (and this may be changing actually), historically Google hasn't backlinks below PR4. Just keep getting them and one day you'll take a look at your logs and appreciably the hard work you put in.

Wow, 4 months for back links to show up? That suprises me. I know google recalculates its PageRank every month or so, I thought that maybe thats when the links would show up.
I was about to ask a similar question because I have put a lot of links out there over the last few week, but doing a "link:" search on google doesn't show a thing. I guess I just have to be patient.

Most believe that Google is constantly recalculating the PageRank, and counting backlinks even though they don't all show up on Google. Lately, there have been backlink updates almost twice per month, so you should expect to start seeing some of your newly aquired links shortly.

I just saw my links show up in Google, just over three weeks after starting to market the site. That's good news. Yahoo link showed up in about a week.
