Hi y'all,

This will be my first post so I hope it is in the right part of the forum.

I am fairly new to the whole webmaster role but I have dabbled for a long while and I have read a lot of material.

I want to start several webvending sites and registered the domain name:
vendatool.net to point to my first product page. The name is hosted with names.co.uk but it is forwarded to my 'free' webspace with pipex.

My problem is that when you view the source code it is merely information showing the page the domain name is forwarded to. Now I'm guessing that if I submit this site to google then it will not collect any keywords, metatags or content from the actual page.

There is an option on names.co.uk to "Refresh to forwarding URL". This is a problem also I think as my website name will disappear as soon as the visitor arrives at the page. I also suspect that the search engine will still collect the forwarding details rather than my actual page content.

Is this a common problem with free hosting accounts and would I be better upgrading to a full hosting account. If I do this with Names.co.uk would this problem disappear.

Hope you can help.
My thanks,
Telemicus

Forwarding the domain may work for awhile, but search engines consider forwarding that is not done as a 301 redirect as possibly deceptive. If you are going to host on a free site, then just submit the free site URL.

Of course most search engines do not take sites hosted on free sites all that seriously, with some exceptions like Geocities, so the best solution is to find a good cheap host and get some proper hosting.

Thanks nielsencl for your prompt reply. I think you are indeed correct and some proper hosting is in order. That will get me to the next stage.

Cheers,
Telemicus.
