I just solved a problem, but I thought it might be fun for those that like solving problems to see if they could figure it out, but I warn you, it's tricky:
1) A client's domain has expired.
2) The site cannot be accessed.
3) When the domain is not active, you cannot send them mail using their regular email address.
4) You have no other contact information, sending email is the only option.
How can you send them email?

Ok, more information to help set the situation:
While most of the whois information is still available, since the domain is in the "holding period", the contact information is that of a consultant that has dropped off the face of the Earth, and even the domain of the consultant's email address has expired.
Thanks to Google's cache of some of the site pages, I was able to get an email address from the site, but it is for the main, expired domain.
I was able to figure out how to send a message to the old email address, but I just realized that the client still may not be able to get it if it's sitting in a POP3 mailbox. I'm hoping that it is being forwarded on to a personal account at an ISP, but there is no way to tell at this point...
Hint: Whois has additional information that can be used...

Next clue: What can the nameserver information also provide for you? And It does not involve contacting the company that maintains the nameserver, it has to do with information ON the DNS nameserver...
