Could someone please explain to me what the above is and how useful could
it be for promoting my online B2B website.

Search engines use a formula to determine how relevant a web page is to a keyword search. An example of a search engine's formula might be:
META Tags 25%
Title 25%
Text 43%
Headings 1%
AltTags 1%
A doorway page is designed to cater to the search engines by putting keywords exactly where the search engines look for them. Sometimes they are successful, sometimes not. The reason for their mixed success is related to the fact that each search egnine has a different formula and they change those formulas often. Therefore, it is difficult to pin down what exactly works and what doesn't.
Success also depends on how competitive your category is. The chances of being ranked well under an extremely popular keyword term (like web design or automobiles) is not very good because there are so many other people fighting for those top positions.
If this is free or doesn't cost very much give it a shot. It might provide you with a good search engine ranking and produce sales. If it is expensive forget about it and spend that money on advertising. If researched and carried out correctly, your advertising budget is an investment which produces a lot of return rather than a calculated loss.
