Okay, after a heck of a lot of link-trading and topsite registration, I'm finally getting a somewhat decent amount of hits, though still not really that many. I was surprised to see that I was being linked to via google (yay!). However, no matter what I looked up I couldn't find myself on gg. My site is called Video Game Planet (http://www.videogameplanet.net/), so I had been trying video game everything, along with other related keywords I had added under the meta tag. Finally, one day it occured to me to look up video game planet with videogame as one word. I was on the 5th page (pretty good for me Sticking out tongue). Obviously, the search engine has picked up the site under videogame planet instead of video game planet because the url is all one word, but i'm still nowhere to be found under video game as two words, even with text on my page saying just that. Would my hits increase if I split up the domain with an underscore or hyphon? And why is my site being picked up under videogame on google when other bigger sites with videogame in the url are not, but rather being found under video game? Sorry to ramble on any longer, but one more quick question. I've noticed that several sites split up the keywords in under their meta tags with commas and spaces on EITHER SIDE (ex: chicken warrior , chicken , warrior) while others just use a comma like you would in a normal sentence (ex: chicken warrior, chicken, etc.). Does it make a difference? Is there any reason people do it differently?

Thanks for any info anyone,
- Chicken Warrior

Domains don't mean anything when it comes to search engines. The keywords (in the meta tags) don't matter very much anymore, so just put the ones you are targetting in there. A good description tag that includes the keywords is a must. Also be sure to put those keywords in somewhere on your site. All your images need to have alt tags with keywords in them. That's just a start...

Hi,

Including your keywords in your URL is just one of the factors being looked at by search engines, and some don't even look at it at all. The keys to getting higher search rankings are on-page optimization and link-building. See my site for a more complete guide.

Good luck on your site!
