I was hoping someone could save me the tedious task of digging for the site submission forms of the MAJOR search engines (say just the top 20). Does anyone have the links they could share with me? Boy, I would appreciate it! Smiling

Thanks,
Dyno

My site, The Best Free Search Engine List, has all the majors and a few more... The URL is in my signature. I think there is a few Christian sites that you can submit to as well.

The list is not organized by the size of the system, but rather how easy they are to submit to. Category #1 is very easy, many just URL and email address, #2 requires more fields to be filled our or has a few rules, or you need to select a directory category, and #3 are more difficult, but worth the effort. For example, we have been getting a lot of traffic from SplatSearch.com and MetaSE.com, but you hear very few people talk about them...

I would get the list as an Excel file (there are 5 other formats...) and record where you submit to, and submit to about 20 places every week. In 10 weeks, you have submitted to about every place you can, and if your site has been optimized, you will thank yourself to putting in the effort.

We submit to over 170 search engines and directories from our
search engine list
of over 1,000, and we don't have to pay anything to most of them, including the top ones.

There are even a number of PPC sites that give you a free starting balence to get you going and most will bring you some good traffic.

I usually use addpro.com. The free version doesn't submitt to alta vista, yahoo, lycos, or msn though. BTW, how come you can't submitt your site to MSN for free anymore? When did this happen?

AddMe (addme.com), offers free Web site submission to the main search engines such as Google, AltaVista, Yahoo etc. If you want a thurror submission, they also have a cheap service for a more advanced submission.

I wouldn't use SE submission services. Google frowns upon that. It isn't very difficult to submit your site to the 10 or so search engines that matter. All of the rest are basically a waste of time.
