dmoz. com website? I think I submitted my website over a year ago. Do you think there is still a chance they will approve me? Can it take this long?

Yes, it could take more than a year to get added, more like 2 or 3 years. But really, don't get too upset if you don't get listed. Submit your website and forget about it. People can go crazy if they obsess over dmoz.
In my experience it is better to get listed in a local category (USA>Washington>Vancouver>on down the line), you usually get approved faster.

You may never get listed, the problem is that it is down to human beings and not robots on DMOZ and they just don't have enough people as editors!

Yes it does take a long time to get your site listed. Huge number of websites are in queue for editor’s review; therefore it takes a long time to see listing results due to limited number of editors for each category. But make sure you submit your site just once.

There is definately a possibility that your site will take over a year or even two to be listed on the DMOZ directory, and even a better possibility that your site won't be displayed in the directory / denied.
DMOZ's performance is failing, and their editors are turning into ***.
Good luck, though!
Focus on your site and other directories...not just that one!

Re-submit every four months or so. Don't go for major categories.

Hold up there, if you submit your site to DMOZ every 4 months editors are going to label that spam. It's best just to submit once and forget about it.

I doubt that. On the ODP forum if it takes that they long, they say re-submit.

it also depends on which category you're site is in. I got approved in 6 months due to ym site being in a smaller neiche category where the editor doesn't get 1 million url submissions a day.

I am still waiting to get approved on my 4 sites that I submitted. I have a total of 27 sites and I just haven't bothered submitting anymore of them.
I have been waiting around 6 months for two of them 1-2 years for another one and 3-4 years for my first site that I ever created and work on each day.
