Hi,

When search engines index websites, do they read the content within the

<!-- Comment --> tag.

If yes, can we add some text in here which would help tell us more about the site right at the top of the page.

I was reading somewhere (I think it was an article at http://www.webmaster-resources.com) that some search engines do read comment tags, and they suggested putting your meta tags in comments also.

I'm really not sure, but I would think that they don't.

Most search engines will relate your keywords to your body content and text on your page when ranking you, i think comments are ruled out.

However, if they were able to be used, you could load it with keywords that match your meta tags, but becareful cuz some search engines would consider that SPAMMING

I don't reckon that any site will use the comment to help rank your site. nd if any do, it will probably be a naff little one which no one ever visits.

I have read that some of the search engines use the comments tag. In any case it doesn't hurt to use them - so do it!
