I changed my home page title and description meta tags a week or so ago. So far google and msn are still showing my old tags in their serp and yahoo is showing the new description tag, but the old title tag.

Does it take awhile for these changes to show up in the serps?

Absolutely. And it can be different at different times. It just depends when the next time that their spider is due to come to your site.

One thing you can do is mention the site on any blog that you might have. In my experience, that speeds things up a bit. But I only speak of personal experience.

After Big Daddy is rolled out, many sites have really old, 6 months old, 1 year old, cached pages in Google. Something like this happens periodically.

after you have modified your meta tags, has google and yahoo revisited your site?
you can check it in their cache.
if they have revisited, they may update the description, title etc..
and sometimes, it may take some more time say a few more days.
and in the meanwhile keep building links.

Google is showing really old cached pages currently, so it's hard to say if Google bots visited your site or not.
