Hi,

We don't worry about rankings, so I can't help you with that, but I can help you in a more general way if you are interested:

- Get the free program from GoodKeywords.com and do research on your keyword phrases. You should use more than just the two keyword phrases on your site.

- Here is what Google knows about for your site: link. I think this is why you are being found for "parrot cages" but not "bird cages", so change some of your page titles to include "bird cages" and additional keyword phrases that you want to be found under. NOTE: Your page titles should also be good English and "sell" what you are offering as well as have keywords. You should create a title that is 60-70 characters long. And you should also have a good meta description tag that has keyword phrases AND describes what is on the page.

- You should go through your entire site and edit what you have to include keyword phrases. For example where you have a product "Palace Cage" you should consider changing it to "Palace Bird Cage" or"Palace Parrot Cage" or "Palace Parrot Bird Cage".

Don't over do this, but you have a lot of room for optimization. If you do the keyword research and include things like

pet care,67721
pet cage, 3748
adventure avian cage,138
avian care, 46
exotic pet cage,30
avian cage,34
avian cage flight,26

You can avoid using the same phrases over and over.

And finally, I would ask several people you do not know what they think of how your site looks. This is better than asking friends since they should be more honest. It's not a bad site, but the use of red text on a black background is very hard on the eyes. Also, using blue text on a blue background like this page makes it very hard to read. If you are going to use a colored background, make sure your text is still easy to read(For me, this entire page is hard to read).

My tips on how to optimise a site (we do worry about rankings in google):

  • Make sure each page has a good title reflecting the content of that page, that is a readable sentence containing your main keyword(s) for that page
  • Have an H1 tag on the page, which also contains the main keyword(s)
  • Try not to have the keyword(s) too often on the page and use other varitaions where possible to increase the chances of other search keywords getting in
  • Get some links pointing to your site from relevant sites/directories, that will help your PR and that in turn may help your rankings

As for the look of the site, help out with some reviews in the critique section then you'll get all the help you need from others with the design aspect Wink

baiscly what you need is your kewords on your site, links with your keywords as the text...once you get that down, it will be alot easier to get higher positions in the SE's.
