I wish they'd just drop the PR thing if it doesn't actually mean anything. Really, it just creates paranoia and empty hype.

Yes, the PR update seems to be happening today. I will be happy not to see that PR 0 anymore, now it looks like it will be a 2. Backlinks seem to be updating as well...

if backlinks are updated AFTER pagerank then your Pagerank wont fully increase until next time.

the pr being displayed in the toolbar is a snapshot from about 2-3 months back. The present day pr may be somewhat different from that.

Before couple of previous pr updates. Google used to update pr of all sites at a time but now it updates in groups like previous two updates were for new sites and now this time old sites are seeing pr update.

I think the Page Rank updation process varies from place to place ( geographical variation). Some sites are already updated in terms of PR, and some still in the queue.
I don't have the information regarding the updation of the back links. I think it happens regularly. I'm not sure.
