What are the current rules on bidding on competitors names (trademarks) as keywords in Google and Yahoo?

There are about 16 other companies bidding on my company's name, which is now trademarked (finally!)

Can I do anything about this?

They are not using our name in the ads, or on their sites, only bidding on the company name as a keyword. It is not a real word, or a common word in the industry other than as our company name, so is definitely being done for competitive reasons.

I don't think there are any 'rules' as such, but I know Google have taken action to stop people using trademarks for keywords in the past (mostly for big companies - I wasn't allowed to use 'apple ipod' for one of my sites). Probably best to contact Google for information on how to get them to sort it out.

Agree. I think that there are no rules now. Mayme they will come soon.
