I am setting up a blog community and have the option of having individuals get blogs as either: theirname@myblogsite.com or myblogsite.com/theirname.
Which is better for SEO? Tks.

Do you mean theirname.myblogsite.com? I've never seen a url with an @ symbol in it!
I *think* the subdomain would probably be preferable. I *think* subdomains will be indexed on their own rather than as part of the larger site. So it depends on whether you want the blogs to be indexed along with the whole site or on their own.
(I'm not really sure about this though... )

In my observation, subdomains work for most SEO but they don't get indexed as fast, but folder domains work better for indexing... and the main domain gets the hit too... just my observation though...

It depends on your energies with SEO. If you work hard you will get good results for your subdomain as well.
