Does forum submissions in various sites help increase your number of backlinks?

It seems that it is now being discounted, but not completely. I think they are reducing the value for links at larger forums.

I think forums posting will always have good value as low-key marketing. If I like someone's post, I generally check out their site...

I disagree, I think they are targeting some forums, but it would be hard for them to target all of them. Yahoo! and Google like to automate their systems instead hiring people to find forums like this. I don't think they can find most forums that allow you to post because they have hard time already dealing with spam.

i think that posting in forums generally doesnt help search rank directly.

more so, people who like the sites they click on(like Christian_SEO) they will generally tell otehrs about it via word of mouth and may link to it from their site.

This linking from other sites to your site will help more than any other free method because that ensures your site gets indexed and is more popular(due to # of links to your site)

so,indirectly posting in forums does help Laughing out loud

go figure?
