Except that search engines will identify all but one (a few if you're lucky) as duplicate content and won't rank them. It might be worthwhile to add to one or two key directories since the directories themselves often have good link value. Otherwise you're doing it just for humans who might read it and follow the link through to your site. Which means that you have to have good quality stuff.

Is that worth the effort? Maybe not - it could be okay if you are writing about something that doesn't fit on your main site. Otherwise, keep your content on your site and get people to link to you.

If you write very good articles and provide links back to your site in them, they can be a good way to get organic traffic. However, ensure that you do not post them on your site as well, or you run the risk (as Megan alluded to) of Google dropping your site from its listings.

If the articles that are really good and is a source of interest to the viewers then there are chances that you will be getting link requests and your websites a good amount of visitors.

Yes, Google has now introduced their dup content rules pretty tightly.

Unless you change each article by about 30% or submit the one article to "themed sites" more for traffic than SEO, you are really wasting your time.
