Regarding the Dmoz issue... they have a forum where you can talk to the moderators, the url is:

I don't think four links is enough to give you a decent pagerank. My site iPodX has a pagerank of 5 and that's with over 70 links that google recognises.

There is no way you are going to get a good pagerank with 4 backlinks

I'm not going to get into this PageRank issue, but from looking at your site I think you should work on some basic optimization at this point. You already have bunch of links, but they are not showing up in Google, so at the moment they are not helping. If they are "poor quality" links, they may never help much. If they are from sites with a PR3 or greater, then they should.

But Google's Page Rank is NOT the complete and only indication of how they rank you site. Check out Google's site and read their webmaster guidelines.

PageRank is just part of what they use to determine how your site will rank. Page Rank also seems to take into account more than just linking, but Google says it does not.

The thing that I think is REALLY hurting your site the most is a lack of scored keyword research and the fact that all your page titles, page descriptions, and keyword tags are the same thing. From what I have seen if your page title page description and even your keywords tag are the same for all pages they will count against you, or at least not help you.

Also, your site has a nice design and a lot of great photos, but there is not much text and the comments that would help your site cannot be accessed unless you register. Well, they still don't let Google "register" even if it's free, so Google cannot index what content you do have.

What do other people think? Work on links, or work on optimization / adding content?

Any text that you have that can be indexed has the potential to be found by searchers and bring traffic to your site.

The best choice is text that has the keywords and keyword phrases that people are searching with, but anything that is not complete junk will help. I did a quick search for "cute" and found these phrases are being used and the number of times they were used in the past 30 days:

cute,42245
cute girl,29628
cute teen,22245
cute girlfriend,14048
cute boy,12902
cute picture,9885
cute guy,8997
cute butt,4914
cute hair style,4587
cute couple,3333
cute profile quote,3254
cute babe,3040
cute asian,2995
cut cute hair,2708
cute pic,2663
cute blonde,1781
cute woman,1619
cute man,1589
cute brunette,1532
cute teen boy,1255
cute teen girl,1223
cute asian girl,1193
cute redhead,1016
cute guy picture,981
black cute girl,970

Some were not so nice and I didn't include them...

If you have a lot of comments that use things like this, well that's some of what people are searching for. Then you have the whole "Am I hot or not..." keywords to research.

Google has not updated PR in a while. Just keep getting your links and you'll do fine. Christian is right about your on-page optimization. Click the link in my sig and you'll find info on optimizing your on-page elements.

I haven't kept up to date on the latest Google PR news but I've read all the details once a long time ago. Basically, the statement that the number of linkbacks proportionally increases your page rank is a falacy. It is an immensely complicated forumla and link backs are just one portion of that formula. You already said that you know the PR of the linking sites matter and that is correct, but what's very important is so does the number of outgoing links from the linking site. In other words, you will benefit more if you are one of only a dozen external links from a PR5 site than if you are one of a thousand external links on a PR8 site. No matter what the othe page's PR, Google devalues a link to your site if it is just part of a massive link farm, which is appropriate since your link is in fact less valuable when it's lost in an endless heard.

Then there's a whole bunch of other factors which have nothing to do with linkbacks, but I'm tired of writing now. Somebody else can talk about those other factors. Good luck.

Nip it in the bud!
