what do i do to get more traffic ?!

hi there my site has been finished for a week now and i know it has potential to be a big site but i dont know how to get users.

how can i get people to sign up? how should i advertise?

It's not an easy task, but going to forums and invite people is a good start. Making a press release of the site, do some link building, and some blatantly e-mail people about their new site.

You can also apply an old fashioned approach with asking people on the streets to join. Advertising the service by word of mouth may help also. That or hire a good marketing group...
