I havn't realy seen many companies for traffic. Most people I know do it themselves, allthough I'm sure you'll find something if you search hard enough.

well there are a number of companies out there....you can go for traffic-resellers.net. it is a good company and provides whole sale reseller traffic. so it is aone of the good ones

It's useful if you talk more about your website/company and the aims that you have.
I would be more concerned about getting targeted traffic. Google AdWords really is king of online paid advertising. It sometimes costs more than Yahoo Search Marketing but Yahoo provides under 10% of Google's clicks*.
Email campaigns are relatively expensive and don't generate much, so i'd be thinking about search engine position.

Use bookmarking sites to your benefits. Stumble Upon, Digg, ect. They brings a decent amount of traffic if you do it right. You can find more info on them by doing a search in google.

There are companies out there where you can pay for traffic, such as 10,000 visitors or 100,000 visitors. You will really only get hits and visits from the users, they are traffic that will be repeat visitors though. Only if you want to get your hit stats up, would I recommend using one of these companies.

If you are strapped for cash, then writing articles is one of the best methods I've come across for promotion.
Basically, you want to write articles on whatever niche you are promoting and submit them to article directories, such as ezinearticles.com.
Once your done with the article(s), you usually have an author bio box. Just put in an attention grabbing bio and a link to your website.
You have to make sure that the articles are yours, though. You can buy PLR articles and edit them. You can also hire a ghostwriter to write an informative article for you.
There are many more methods out there, but this one is good if you are low a advertising funds or can't afford Adwords,

I would also have to agree that one should really focus at getting TARGETTED TRAFFIC as this yields the best conversion rates than just random traffic. There are lots of ways you could get this.
My best choice at getting targetted traffic are thru Pay-Per-Click, paid targetted link backs and forum posting on similar niche. These marketing campaign will get you the right traffic for your site. Done properly, it will yield favorable results

There are so many ways to increase traffic that are free - but take time and effort - and there are so many ways to waste money trying to take the easy way out with "gaurenteed" traffic generation schemes that you really need to put a price on your time and what you want to achieve.
I have paid services for traffic and never got better results than internet research and sifting the forums for diamond advice in amongst the rough clatter.
Spend some time in the forums, Make contact with webmasters who are trying to do the same things and work together to get results.
Remember the old adage...if it is too good to be true, it probably is!
You can definetly make money from an internet business....but it is not easy...
The best ideas and experiances are kept close and not generally broadcasted in these forums....but you can find excellent info if you take the time to look.
Everyone is keen to help and share with friends, But it takes time to build these credibilty and relationships...
The basic traffic building blocksd are pretty easy to find with a bit of research, After that it is up to you to put in the effort and come up with that extra bit of smarts that takes you to the next level.

Liz - you can get traffic to your web-site in a number of ways, either free or paid.
To get paid traffic, you can use Google Adwords PPC or a similar offering from Yahoo.
Though Google can give you higher traffic, I have found Yahoo to cost less.
To get free traffic, you should have good ranking in the SERPs, which is
possible through good original content, and relevant links.
You can also get traffic from your signatures in forums.
In my experience, Directories will give you negligible traffic.

If you use email campaigns make *sure* you use an opt-in mailing lists only!!
Yes, *targeted* visitors is what you want. Without targeted visitors, you'll get 10,000 hits and no sales.
I like to use this example for targeted visitors:
Let's say I sell apples. Now I can take a bag of them and walk down the side walk in the middle of my town and try to sell to strangers I meet. By the end of the day I may sell all of my apples. It's not that people don't like apples, they are just not in the mind set to buy them at that location.
Now if I take the same bag of apples and go to my local farmers market street fair, I'll sell them all within an hour because the people there are targeted customers and in the mind set to buy fruit.

Something not said, but needs to be said in bold and red letters.
Was on another forum tonight, and mentioned how thrilled my blog was tagged #8 under a world top 10 website with absolutely no SEO (not even keywords). The SEO mover-and-shaker quickly did his spin of "why wasn't your site #1?" (like I even tried with no keywords? And, 40 articles against 40,000 and one author against about 2,000,000...that's a TAD difficult!). When I mentioned that, he changed his tune of, "since we don't know of your site..." (not like I'm going to advertize it so he can ride on my hard work).
SEO types are sneeky, like used car salesmen. Always promoting their own business, but always looking for why you're successful so they can profit off your "trade secrets".
Truth is, you won't get the truly successful information, as it'll put the SEO types out of business.
What information you can get is in piecemeal scattered all over the web. But you will have to remove the hard sell that comes from these "lectures" to gather the real data you need. It requires a lot of time and organization. If you have a goal to make a living online, a couple months studying is well worth it, as there's no such thing as "free lunch" in this Wild, Wild, Wild West commercial market.
Study, watch your stats religiously, and experiment. Yahoo and Google didn't become big on rigid formulas, they tested, tested, tested. Sometimes they failed royally, sometimes they hit paydirt, but if they stuck to rigid formulas, the web as we know it today will function like in 1998. The same goes with your site, as each market has a different type of customer (there is no one size fits all profile -- kids are different than grandma, for example). What sells for a game site, won't have any bearing on a crochet store. Different markets with different details.
So, do your own homework. Save that money on things you can't do yourself (a better website/server/market research [not SEO research, actual marketing). That will keep you not so much in the red in those first s-l-o-w and painful 2 years to establish yourself.

I do not know what company that can improvise your traffic but I'm sure you can do it yourself.
