Well, Brooke, I was going to give this a clean bill of health, but it's just another sucker fish site. No content of its own, slapped together in a couple of weeks, only affiliate links to larger previously developed sites owned by other people.

There is nothing there worth promoting.

I thought that comment was real harsh....

Then I looked at the website and I gotta agree.

i must agree with karlmaddock; the comments about promotion tips to a site that "had nothing worth promoting" was unnecessary. i thought these forums were for giving and receiving helpful advice?

best,

Mos

Did you look at the site, mos? There is nothing there to promote. There is no content, only affiliate links.

This is a common sight among people who are promoting their own sites on forums not to contribute or learn but to attract willing "marks" who will send money their way by clicking on links.

They aren't providing value. In order to market something, you need to have something working marketing.

In the same wasy, it's not complicated -- in order to promote something, you need something to promote. Affiliate links do not qualify.

Actually, there are many, many sites like this one on the web. No content? well, not a lot, but that's what we should suggest, that Brooke try and get more content. Affilate links? No law against them and many sites depend on them for business.

Do I like them? No. But I think I can let those that build such sites and operate them do so without passing judgement upon them.

Now, Brooke, just as with any site, you should try and have good content. For your site it means trying to have product descriptions that are longer. You should have your product descriptions describe how great the products are, but also have as many keywords as possible.

Go to GoodKeywords.com and download the free program they have. enter in what you think are keywords for what is on each page. For the football page you will have football, football helmets, shoulder pads, etc. By using the GoodKeywords program you can find out what people are really looking for and use them on the page. Try to have 20-30 words for each product.

Then you should do some work to optimize the site. Edit your page titles and meta description tags to describe what is on the page AND use as many keyword phrases as possible. Also add some keywords to the meta keywords tag as well.

This will help quite a bit. The search engines that find your page will pick up on these changes and in a few weeks you should see some more visitors. To really pick things up, you should submit your site to as many places as possible.

A site like yours that intends to attract visitors, but does not actually sell anything is not going to have really great results unless a professional works on it, and even then it's kind of questionable what the results will be for the money invested.

You should check your site, since I am seeing quite a few bad links. Try the vollyball link on the football page and you will see what I mean. The link is:

sportinggoodsresource.com/football/volleyball/index.htm
and should be
sportinggoodsresource.com/volleyball/index.htm

I hope this helps. Let us know if any of this is confusing or you have other questions, ok?

Thank you,
Chris

If there were no such things as affiliate links sites like this wouldn't exist.

Mos, some people do the rounds on forums spamming their affiliate links and nothing else. This post (site) for example was posted on another forum the day after this one was posted, thankfully they didnt take the advice to hide the affiliate links.
