Hello............
I have a cake decorating and candy making web site. It gets around 2000 hits a day.
I've been approached by someone who would like to buy space on my home page, for a short descriptive text link to their web site.
My dilemma is I don't have a clue as to what a fair/reasonable price should be.
Any suggestions/guidance would be really appreciated!
Thanks
Joe Hussar

They will be wanting a link from your index page because it's a PR6 and I know people who charge between $50-$100p/m for a link on a PR6 page.

Well I think $50 is fair price if you can send targeted traffic to youd advertiser web site. Can you count how much targeted hits do you send to advertiser's web site? If not you may instal this Outgoing links racker script http://www.olate.com/tutorials/view.php?id=142

Most people asking for a link on a high PR site probably aren't doing it for traffic but purely for PR status

PR is the term given to PageRank invented by Google. The ranks run from 0 to 10 with 10 being the best. Having a high PR does help in your search engine rankings as it is a gauge of how "important" the page is to search engines.

Very simply, your PageRank is determined by how many links you have pointing to your site. To see a sites PR you must have the Google Toolbar installed using Explorer

This is quite a good example (although this page doesn't seem to have taken its own advice

Taking it one step further, your PR is also affected by the PR of those sites that link to you. In other words, you'll get a better PR if you have 100 PR6 sites linking to you than if you had 100 PR4 sites linking to you.
