Hello --
i really need someone to explain to me what 'CPM' is, and any detail about it. I have an idea but i think i am missing something (hey it took me a week to figure out the whole goto.com bidding system).
if possible, please explain to me how it works, especially when used like this, in this e-mail i received:
"What I can do is give
you an effective cpm which will give you the ROI that you are looking for.
I have an opt-in list which has not been touched yet. All we have done are
text newsletters to our audience. Let me know what cpm you can come in at
that would be comfortable."
please! thanks.
sincerely,
dkwii@netzero.net

CPM means Cost Per Mil (if I remember recorrect Mil is the same as thousand in Latin).
So CPM is what you pay or get paid for 1.000 banner views.

CPM is Cost Per Thousand impressions, not million. It is the rate you get payed for displaying banners per thousand. If you get serve 2,000 impressions (or page views) and the CPM is $1, you get $2.00, not including the money your ad company likely will take away.

So you have a choice of CPM? You don't see that everyday... pick the lowest CPM possible, so you will pay less for more.

iBoost? I have heard A LOT of bad things about them. They bought Sponsorships.net and now that is closed and the same goes for WebsiteSponsors.com, which they bought and fired the original founder, the only quality man on their staff. Neither of those sites were known as reliable and they didn't pay their publishers. I would stay away!

For $500 you're not going to get a big account with DoubleClick which means your left with the smaller sites. Many small ad companies would be glad to take your money but the real trick is finding targeted sites. If you have a site about webmasters, advertise on boards like this. But if your site is about furbys, get some ads on some furby fan sites, etc....

I say consider advertising with BURST! Media. They pride themselves in having a diverse group of targeted and topic-specific sites.
