Social Networking Sites for Promotion

social networking sites play a prominent role in advertising.
i been using twitter for such cause.ofcourse there are several other social bookmarking sites which would help you to build relation with the people
Sites such as Stumble Upon, Digg and del.icio.us make it easy to share the latest advances and additions to your website with the world at large, and they can provide a good stream of traffic once you know how to use them properly.

I'm using Digg and Propeler so far it gives me great result..

I'm using different social networking sites to promote my website like myspace, facebook, and tagged and I think it can help, it can bring traffic.

I use Twitter and I think it is going to go mainstream this year, if it hasn't technically done so already. The Sitepoint forum did a recent article about how Tweets do help seo.

When it comes to the web, I think that most mistakes come from not taking advantage of easy and mostly free resources, social media being a huge player.

I use digg, which is quite great, just make sure you submit an interesting story, but you need to make friends before you spam them with links so it takes some time. The more people follow you the more traffic it will bring to your website

Social Networking can help your site to generate traffic, It can help your site to become popular as well..

I have tried MySpace, FaceBook and Twiter

MySpace
Write a weekly blog and have RSS feed to popular products and news stories. After a year we still only have one friend.

FaceBook
Though initial join up was good, when you look at the members of the fan pages they are all current or former employees. However we are in a migration phase at the moment and once complete - we will have the capability to have wish list applications, etc like http://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?id=57611970242

Twitter
Been using bit.ly to track the links I have been putting up and most of them don't get any clicks. Have started using the Tweet deck and answering specific peoples questions. Naturally building up a small amount of followers, but as we are only one of about 3 price comparison sites on there I think we will find it the most useful of the lot.

I don't use the social sites for traffic as I'm not interested in casual visitors. However I have started using them for backlinks - http://www.socialposter.com/# is useful as it gives you a list of many together with an indication as to which are dofollow if you click the dofollow option - it saved me masses of time once I found this; before I was happily submitting links to sites I had been told of which had become nofollow in the meantime.

Note: just to clarify that I have no personal interest in the socialposter site so this is NOT a spam post.

Myspace is good because has huge traffic but you need to work hard to find people interested in business there, as most of them are there just for fun, eventually politics, etc. However I do have few good business friends there. For me the best social networking sites (I researched and joined over 30!!) is Apsense, then Lazzeo. On the other I just posted few words and ads, but on these 2 I'm active member .

yup. there a lot of people promoting on social network now a days. since this sites are free and have a large traffic. people make use of this sites.

Definitely, social networking sites are great in terms of advertising , simply because of the potential traffic it can bring to your website, specially nowadays that all kinds of people are joining social networking sites even baby boomers population on this sites are rising, so it is considered as one of the most effective places to advertise.

To really use a social networking site to promote your site or business you have to spend some time there. People are there to socialize and network; they're naturally suspicious of people with commercial interest.

social networking sites are idealistic in advertising your product, but you really need to build reputation and friends who has the same interest as yours, it may take time but its worth your time because there's a lot of benefits you can get in the long run.

many people is using this due to high population on social network and less expense. so they can attract more traffic

Yes, I have tried it. I can't say it was that efficient but suppose the problem was I didn't have enough experience because I know some of my friends regularly use it and it works.

I prefer Twitter although MySpace is also good. Twitter is more popular and receives thousands and millions of visitors everyday. So people are most likely benefit from this social networking site.

twitter is your best bet. instant traffic. best to research about techniques though to maximize your marketing plans.

Orkut, and Mylot are good sites for promoting. Just add your link to your signature, and post it for promoting your site.

I used twitter for telling my subscribers and fans or followers that this is latest news or discount in products and services which i offered in my website then i use facebook and myspace to build my social network I got very decent result so i would like to say you should start facebook myspace twitter flickr marketing as soon as possible as there is already lots of industry leaders earning and getting instant traffic to their website and hence generating online business.
