What internet marketing methods would you recommend to use for website promotion purposes - SEO or PPC advertizing and why?

Both

SEO is important, including backlinks, etc

PPC can drive some traffic to the site from a different audience than the search engines. However, I have a client with a dating site who ran a PPC campaign and it yielded 95% males (not unusual for dating site membership)

I agree with decibel.places. PPC and SEO can work hand in han at getting you the right traffic. The benefit of SEO is that it won't cost you that much if you know some of the basics - unlike PPC where it can be really tricky especially for the first-timers Wink

Use PPC whilst SEO comes into effect.

PPC is very good value for money if you use exact matching, but it does depend on service/product and how competitive the marketplace is.

They both have their good points ppc is very effective while seo is less expensive.

i read someone somewhere say " ppc is seo on steroids", which i think sums it up, seo is a long term task and the benefits are free clicks, however ppc gets you there faster, but beware of the costs, ensure that you put daily budgets to make sure you don't lose your budget in one day

I'd prefer to use PPC in the first part of the campaign. This will enable to cut off the competition while doing SEO. As we all know, natural SEO takes time to rank.

SEO is a great way to generate more traffic without paying anything. SEO (search engine optimization) is not an instant gratification. If your not the type of person willing to wait and be patient on your seo campaign then you can open up a ppc account to generate more traffic from a different audience. This will cost you some money, but if you do have the budget it's worth the investment.

PPC is great for driving immediate traffic. In my opinion, SEO is much more effective for capturing a wider audience and getting exposure from unexpected sources. PPC will not help you with getting links from other sites and building mindshare in your niche.

I use prefer SEO method to PPC advertizing.
SEO method, we can get natural traffic so if we not have budget but with natural we have good traffic. It will give me good profit.
But for PPC advertizing is only promote and boost up our traffic.
So i choice SEO.

I would imagine that in the long-term, good seo would be as effective as having ppc, but of course I'm just speculating here.

From my perspective, the only real reason to invest in ppc is if you are already getting revenue and you want to increase business, or you are sure that your site is going to support or be a business. Otherwise, for blogs or personal sites, even monetized sites, I would go with seo. Plus, learning seo will help you be a better webmaster.

In starting of business, ppc is very useful, quick and organic traffic.
for long term, you can use SEO, it effects in business after some time. seo is also relevant for long term benefits.

Both PPC and SEO can yield expected results. If you intend to have quick results, PPC is the better option. But remember that incoming traffic by this method will be for a limited period. On the other hand, organic SEO yields a long term results, but you need to be patient.
And if you go for both the techniques simultaneously, you can certainly have better results.

But always remember that these strategies must be executed with utmost perfection to avoid future disappointments.

SEO - you put some money --> lot of time --> get money

PPC - you put lot of money --> some time ---> get money

SEO + PPC = Best results

That's absoletly correct.

And my question is do you recommend to choose the same key words for SEO optimization and PPC?
Any ideas on that?

I am a Junior SEO Analyst, and have had some experience with PPC campaigns as well. I would recommend SEO to someone who is starting off because it can be done at low cost and it is important to optimize your website. After SEO and great supplemental tool would be PPC, but I would not do PPC without fist organically optimizing your website.

SEO is much better and the results will last much longer than a PPC campaign will run. Having a properly optimized wibsite will get you organic rankings, which are prefered over paid listings.

It is pretty easy to track your PPC campaigns well, just start asking the people that convert from your website how they found you.

I can say that PPC can bring traffic to your website only if you had lots of money so if you run out of money the traffic stops, but SEO is far more cheaper than PPC and has longer terms of services for us.. so I highly prefer SEO than PPC.

both are effective and proved ways in increasing traffic to our websites, but the big difference was the cost, PPC needs a lot of money in order to run it properly while SEO are far more cheaper but is good for the long run.

Hi,

SEO is more helpful rather then PPC. PPC is just paying services to Google which can remain you on the top until you paid to Google and nothing gives any benefit to site. So SEO is very useful for the site which takes you on the top in the search engines in keywords ranking and make your sites more useful to others.

I would prefer SEO over PPC as SEO brings natural traffic for long term basis and if you do it by yourself then its completely free.while PPC give traffic till google is being paid.

Many webmasters are unsure whether they should advertise their website with SEO (search engine optimization) or PPC (pay per click advertising). Actually, most commercial websites work best if you use both SEO and PPC. The exact mix depends on your goals.

Both will do.There are just some difference that SEO can be free if you yourself is a SEO that can do the marketing ways.On the other hand,PPC includes money to make the advertisement.

Search engine optimization usually gives you a much higher return on investment than pay per click. There is no question that effective SEO beats PPC hands down in both traffic and conversion rate opportunities. Although PPC should be a part of the marketing mix, it shouldn't be completely depended upon if you're serious about building your business online.

I agree with everyone else that bot are equally important and important rolls in your online marketing success. However, I think PPC plays a more important role in first marketing your website. This will allow you to get some leads or sales while your work on optimizing your website for SEO purposes. In the long run you will save money with doing SEO because PPC can become very pricey.

Thanks,

Mike

Yes both are very important for Site promotion but SEO is much better in term of cost effective as compare to PPC SEO is ongoing process and for longer run SEO would be much better because PPC is very expensive can't carry on for long period of time.

If you are looking into getting lots of traffic fast but do not care so much about the cost then i would take the path of using PPC.

Although,

If you are willing to work for what results you are looking for and do some research and learning then i would advise that you take the Search Engine Optimization (SEO) route and use that to work on your website and get better traffic.

THREE POINTS:

Time
Typing
Traffic

Use your time well, and type up some interesting content for your website and promote it gently on social bookmarking sites and forums and then see how well the traffic comes in.

Choosing between PPC and SEO will mainly depend on your targets or goals.
SEO is a long term investment and if you wan't to compete on a low budget it's far better as you can do basic SEO for free. And you should do this type of SEO even if you are going to use PPC. The great benefit of pay per click is the fact that it will provide you with an immediate boost of qualified visitors, lead and sales giving you fast results...
