I managed to get 2 great domains (imexforum.com and eximforum.com) and I've put up a forum. Now I need to start promoting it. Any ideas?
Its a forum about the import/export industry and there isn't to much competition in the field.

try announcing it by writing an article and posting it to a trace email group - search yahoogroups.com and submit it to a trade magasine.

Try advertising your forums in business newspapers, trade magazines and yellow pages and see how it works. Since there are not many forums out there which are related to yours, posting and adding a brief description about your forums in your signature and post exchanges is a bit difficult.

I would advice you to :
1) Fill your forum with posts
2) Get a unique theme for your forum
I say this because people don't usually register to empty forums, and a good look is allways a big advantage for your forum.
As for the promotion, the best way to promote a forum is allways the free one
Make link partners, submit to directories, etc.
