I have my first forum site. This is all new to me. My site is a political forum site located at http://www.politicalword.com . This site generates no income and I would be interested in knowing what works best for forum promotion.

Start some threads yourself. No one is going to start a thread or sign up in a forum that doesn't already have some post. Have your friends join in and get some threads a rolling. Run a small contest... buy ads... put your link in your signature.

I should ask this questions before US elections. What kind of members do you have... from wich country. You have to prepare the profile of your audience so you could be able to get ads from advertising campaigns.
It is a also a good idea to contact some publishers and to persuade them to pay for advertising their politics and political science related editions.
