Promoting My Business Site Nationwide
Hi Guys, Im new to this SEO and looking for a few pointers. Im aware of backlinks and I have been submitting to various directories all over the internet.
Im contemplating introducing an SEO company to manage this for me and this would be the company called JustSearch...
Any opinions on these guys would be great. But in the meantime has anybody got any points or tips on how to improve my own readings.
I havent had a deep crawl on google since I created all my final set of meta titles & tags.
Regards
Chris
PS - Any help would be fantastic

Are you refering to the site in your signature? Which "nation" are you optimizing for?
You should do some research on geotargetting in google if you only want to target one country.

Hi Chris,
Welcome to TWF
One thing you overlooked was header tags, h1 and h2 are important to search bots, your homepage doesn't have any (hint: you can style them with css)
In general, I think the homepage is scant on text/content for any meaningful keywords targeting.
SEO is not a dark art (if someone tells you they have secret methods, they are either lying or using tricks that might end up hurting you).
You can learn to optimize your SEO yourself - unless you like paying others to service you.
Also, that really nice fancy Flash animation takes a REALLY LONG time to load - I thought my connection was broken...
One more thing, your post sounds suspiciously like a promo for JustSearch - if the site is an indication of JustSearch's work, I hope you don't give up your day job...

That's why you don't see alot of high class flash animations, unless they're on a really fast server. Even then, they take up alot of bandwidth.

This certainly isnt a promo for justsearch.. Im merely asking for some advice and if anybody had used them before, I have zero ties with them at the moment.
The flash has been running fantastically until register365 had issues on Friday and it is taking a long time to load.

Hi Chris,
I apologize if I offended you with my arrogance, sometimes it gets off its leash
I think one useful piece of information in my post was the recommendation to do the SEO yourself first.
Anyway, good luck and enjoy TWF

Just search are next to useless, I signed up for a year and after 2 months they had finished on page optimisation apparently. All thry did was change the title tag of the home page to include keywords and add some stupud info box at the base which contained all those keywords as internal links with badly written text, each one was also a static rss feed with that text which cannot easily be changed.
So having done all the on page work (not much and a sham)they said they were concentrating on off page (link building) After another 6 months the only new links I can find are somebody spamming completely random forums with a signature link to my site. They claim this is not them, not sure why anyone else would do this, if it is not them then where are their links. I asked for a full report of links which they said was an unusual request but would produce.
2 months further on they phoned to say they hadnt got it yet as the link person was off sick today.
They charge a fortune based on their amazing claims, strong sales pitch and the ranking of their own website. None of this helps me, i am now much poorer and have nothing to show for it.
NOT RECOMMENDED

Ouch, thanks for writing that up for us. Did you get any sort of compensation for them not delivering on their end of the agreement?
I would recommend searching around before picking a professional seo service. Personally, I would only opt for those who have a company blog, and are more visible like on social media sites. That's the only way to see how they interact with others and if they walk their talk so to speak. There are too many sites out there for me to trust any "professional looking" one. What's more important is social proof, like this thread.
