Those of you who care might be interested to know that a PR update happened this week sometime. I just noticed today when I checked my toolbar PR out of curiosity. There has been some buzz on various other blogs but it didn't come up on any that I read regularly.
I was happy to see that my sites have all gone up, and the new ones actually have PR now! My blog is at 4 after moving to a new domain in February, A Padded Cell was launched in March and is also at 4, and the forums here are at 6 now and I think it used to be a 5 so that's good. Not that it's hugely important but a nice thing to know about. It's a bit of a relief to see some numbers there now.
I also came across a good PR explaination from Pro Blogger. Read this if you still think PR is really important

(and this article is nearing 2 years old already - from what I hear PR has become even less important since then, or is used differently than it used to be)

Man, I miss PR, the ILQ (watch out, it's an annoyingly ugly site) extension I have on Firefox doesn't show PR anymore. Every site is n/a

Did you do a lot of intensive link building for that site? How long has it been up? Just wondering...
It seems to me that it's really easy to get a PR 4. Not that it's of huge importance - it's a little "nice to know" measurement that at least gives you some indication of how you're doing. But, we haven't really done any intensive link building for our sites (because I'm useless at it!). Jeevesbond has been posting a lot at Slashdot with the A Padded Cell link. He's got good "karma" or whatever they call it there so the no follow got taken out. But that's it other than a few web directories. My site is similar - I got a few linkbacks from some low traffic blogs and lots of comment links (mostly nofollowed). Both sites were new as of February/March, both have a decent amount of content, and both are closely linked to these forums which is a well established, trusted site, albiet at a PR 5 for as long as I can remember.
So, really, if it's that easy to get a PR 4 it's not much to brag about!

This illustration from Search Engine Land confirms my previous comment:

Basically, it's easy to get to PR 4, harder to get from 5 to 6 and even harder to get up to 7 and beyond.
They also have a good, [url="http://searchengineland.com/070426-011828.php
"]up-to-date summary of PR[/url]. Just read the conclusion if you're short on time - that sums it up!
By the way, take a look at the URL's for this site. Hmmm. From a highly regarded SEO specalist site. Hmmmm... (no keywords there, that's my point).

Adobe.com
Yahoo.com
A question:
The Opera PR toolbar button shows three numbers. The Adobe site has a 2 in the spot where I normally see 1. Does anyone know what this is? I supposed I'll have to see if there is anything about it in the Opera wiki or forums.
This is what the Opera PR button shows:
MeganMcDermott.com - Rank_1:1:4
Cnn.com - Rank_1:1:9
Adobe.com - Rank_1:2:10
Google.com - Rank_1:2:10
Only the PR 10 sites show a 2 in the second position (haven't done extensive testing though).
