I have just got a new site built with some content just so as to get indexed by google.Actually I have plans to get on to a big launch with some unique features on my site later.The purpose of having this site now was just to build a page rank so that during actual launch of my site I will be having lots of pre-visitors!
But the problem is that I am a newbie.I am not able to get any good backlinks from high pr sites( because my site has no pr!)
So I am thinking to get some one way links.How much time will it take to get a pr.I also use google sitemap.What is the best method of one way links.
I think of posting articles in article directories.Will the same article posted in different article directories affect my back link quality of the links coming back from similar content containing articles.
Plz help me as I am in real headache to promote my site.

I am in the same boat you are. From what I'm reading here, getting a good PR takes time. I'm putting my site up everywhere I can find and i'm waiting for the all important Google indexing. Any other magical ideas anyone could post would be great!

There are few steps you should follow to get backlinks.
[1] Submitting to directories
[2] Exchange links with others - 3 way is better
[3] Write articles and submit to article directories with resources box
[4] Participatate in forums
[5] Press release for your product/service and there are a lot of other way to get backlinks.. Google PR May take one month to three months to update.. next update is exprected in forthcoming July.

Well I find here a lot of good info.thanx all for helping.I am trying to submit to directories.
Presently I am engaged in modifying my web page and adding content.
Another good news-My site got indexed by G in just one week!

Make sure your site offers good content. Ask relevant websites for link exchanges. Add your URL to directories. And be patient
