I am new in this SEO thing and I would like to find more ways to increase our traffic log. I need tips in increasing our number of visitors and actually making them stay long...

You should try creating an article regarding or about the content of your website and submit it to Article Directories on the web.
Articles with livelinks of your site has advantages:
1. Backlinks without reciprocity
2. Its Viral...If you created a good article other publishers will pick it up and post it in their website with your link on it.
3. Invites article readers to your site
4. Because of the viral nature its a marketing strategy that has longevity and its free
That said you can start submitting your article to Article Avenue.com which is one of the top article directories around;

Our URL is www.lazymovie.com this is the website i have been working on. The site is not yet finish though. It's quite new actually so there are still more work to be done. So far we have been making blogs and joining forums. We also changed our site from flash to HTML. We dont appear in the top ten. PR is still zero...
I know it may take a while however i would just like to know more.. what needs to be done and such...

Thank you for the links it will be great help for us.
Would it be helpful if I put an articles page in our site that might be relevant to the industry we are in? it would be all about techniques and stuff, i dont know, i just need to brainstorm a bit more. It would be one way in getting one way links if others may find it relevant.

hi zeniamai, yes putting a page for articles related to your field would definitely help as it would increase the quality of your site's content which would be very helpful in improving your rankings in search engines which i think is still the best source of quality visitors.
Make sure in making your articles that all your keywords are properly placed avoid spamming or repeating your keywords as this would be penalized by s.e.s
