I have been using Microsoft bCentral's Clicktrade.com as a Publisher for a few months now.

Though their affiliate sign up process is weird (and buggy, at times) I selected them only because they charge 30% of what you pay the affiliate (if there is a sale).

It fit my budget because I had to pay only when one of my affiliates made a sale. There were no upfront fees or any other charges.

But....

They are shutting down their service!!!!

Earlier this month (or was it last month?) they shut down Listbot, leaving hundreds of thousands of list owners in the lurch.

And now this!!

And they want me to buy XP which will take over my computer - and my life??

No friggin way!!

If there is one company I want to see shut down, its Microsoft!!

Let's not turn this into a Microsoft flamefest...

How will XP take over your computer any more than current OSes do? Isn't that what they do, run your computer, make hardware function?

I have an enormous reservoir of goodwill towards Microsoft because it and it alone - unlike Xerox, Apple, Amiga, and many others who tried before it - was the one that finally delivered a usable graphical interface on ubiquitous, inexpensive hardware. Microsoft often wasn't the first, and its software wasn't often the best, but it was inarguably the one that delivered on the early promise of personal computing in a way no other software maker did. Microsoft - more than any other company - opened up computing for ordinary people. I love Microsoft for that.

I don't love MS by any means, but I have respect for what they've done.

Microsoft bCentral had all the figures to make something good out of Clicktrade. Unfortunately if was run by incompetent people who didn't understand much about affiliate marketing.

This is the idea I've got after exchanging a few emails with them...
