What does SEO friendly mean? And I wonder how to determine SEO friendly from non SEO friendly ones?

That's actually a good question. The other thing is that what is SEO friendly today may not be tomorrow, especially since Google has been getting more agressive with some of these sites.

SEOmoz has some good information on how to identify (really) SEO friendly directories:

Well SEO-ed directories are good investments in link building especially for the long term as they tend to stay longer. They bring in minimal traffic but they tend to be targeted traffic and they add up overtime.

All of you very right, but thing is how can we say about future, how can we say today’s good SEO will be good tomorrow as well, we cannot predict about Google algorithm. Can we

I tend to disagree. Google is pretty predictable. They strongly prefer links that are editorially placed based on merit. This makes it not only possible but easy to predict - would google want to count this link? Would they consider it to be editorially placed based on merit? Would they consider this content to be useful for humans or just for search bots?

With web directories the answer to these questions is often "no". Often, but not always.

What could really change this the whole idea of semantic search, which is very different but I wouldn't say it's unpredictable.
