I have seen on alot of websites that have ads with sizes like 120 x 90 and 120 x 60.
Where could I get paid to have these type of ads on my website, and would I need a minimum amount of hits per month?
Could I get a good selection of ads to use, so I can target them to certain people?

I suppose it would help to have banner ads at normal sizes too on my site, why not gimme a few of the places to get them too.

I have only use 120 by 60's from Advertising.com and that wasn't a very good experience.

You'd be lucky to make money period let alone make money off of those size ads without a high amount of traffic.

Agreed. The smaller the banner the more traffic you need to make any money from it.

True. A lot of the banner ad companies like Engage and Burst! offer these button sizes in addition to their standard full-sized banners.

I wasn't aware that Engage offered these size banners but I dunno. Is it for CPM or CPC?

I always thought they did, but maybe not. I know Burst! does, though.

I have never seen any ad network that could sustain any reasonable inventory in any ad size other than 468x60 banners, although a few do a fair job representing "elite" sites that have smaller ad sizes and shapes.

For small web sites, the smaller ad formats are more suitable for promoting individual vendors who may agree to pay per click, per lead, or per sale. Most "affiliate programs" (including my company's program) provide buttons in smaller sizes, and almost all provide a standard 88x31 "button."

You can string several of these buttons in a row, horizontally or vertically. While the individual click-throughs are low, my experience is that if the offers are targetted properly (e.g. if your site is about Agatha Christie mystery novels, don't show CarPrices buttons but do show 1BookStreet.com or Amazon.com buttons) then you may find that you can generate a fair amount of extra revenue -- while still maintaining your standard 468x60 banner at the top of the page.

A row of buttons also allows you to refer people to multiple programs (e.g. if allowed, you can put for buttons for Barnes & Noble, 1BookStreet, Amazon, and Borders, so your customers can choose their preferred supplier while still generating revenue for your site from the resulting sales.)

One last thought: whenever I hear someone mentioning button ads, I must mention that in many cases, you can use TEXT links to promote many offers (pay-per-click, pay-per-lead, or pay-per-sale), and this saves bandwidth and download time, while also fitting better into your site's design. Never forget the humble text link!

How can I set up text links, who has this service, My websites new design will have alot of pics on it, and keeping the image ads to a low number would help.

So I think text links are the way to go.

Thanx

If this is the same Mark Welch that I believe it to be, then everyone in here should be taking his advice. Mark Welch is one of the industries most respected people and, if I am not mistaken, one of the "pioneers" of the online advertising industry. His knowledge of this industry goes way beyond what we know and we could definitely learn a lot from him.

CJ has them all - all sizes of banners and text links as well. As previously said, it's not CPM. It's CPC, per lead or pay sale.

You would need tons of traffic and very focused ads to make any money today.
