My question is, my pr started at 0 when i first started and now it's at 3, does that automatically increase my visitors? Cuz for some reason I still can't increase hits? Take a look at my site http://freemusicforlife.blogspot.com then give me some suggestion to how i can improve it? Thanks in advances. All comments are welcome especially the bad ones.

No, PR has no (direct) relation to actual traffic. It has an indirect relationship in that it is one of the many factors that determine your search rankings.

You must have been successful in building some links to get a PR value. Next you need to build on those links by targetting sites that could actually send you traffic. It looks like most of your backlinks are from web directories that often aren't specifically related to your topic. You need to narrow your target audience. Where can you find people who would be interested in free music?

Also working on building a site that people actually want to visit. Your site is basically offering torrent feeds from another service, right? So what value is there that people couldn't get from someplace else? You could get into talking about how to use torrents and where to find them. There's also the legal aspect of all of this - you could cover some of the cases and laws enacted that affect music copyright (for example, there was a very controversial bill introduced in Canada a few months ago that was similar to the US DMCA law. It didn't pass this time but they're planning on introducing it again soon).

On a cheaper level, you could target freebie sites and things like that - think about places people would go to get free stuff.

I also have site PR of 3 and i have got a little more traffic but i agree with Megan, when she says that it is an indirect effect.

Your PR may help your search engine rank position but you may still have many more websites which are higher in the results.

You should consider looking at adding content on a regular basis, and seeing what you can do to optimize your website a little more.

I have had a new site get pr3 less than a month after it was created. I could not believe it at first because i had not done anything special. Turns out it was an expired domain so maybe that had something to do with it.

PR is not directly connected to traffic. Even PR is not directly connected to SERP. Its a factor effecting SERP.

PR is nothing, the real baseline in doing SEO is the conversion rate. This is when people starts to buy your products.

PR has no bearing on the number of visitors you have. Some sites with a low PR have high traffic, while the reverse is true sites with High PR can experience very little traffic. If your site is new you need to work on the content and link building to get some traffic to your site.

Beware mate.

If you will not care your PR then may be in next update you can have PR1.

Google check backlinks for PR and in starting all one doing excellent job for his site and after a bit promotion no one check his site carefully and this reason can hurt your PR.

Thanks Smiling

A PageRank increase will not mean you have more visitors to your site. The only way to get more visitors is promotion, such as SEO or some other means. Your PageRank number only indicates the amount and popularity of the links that are linking to you.

A PR3 is not that much of an achievement - it is below an "average" PR4

My personal site has a PR4, with only casual promotion.

Today my RankQuest toolbar showed it at PR8 and I got really excited, but it was an anomaly and went back down to PR4 soon.

[edit]

heheh my site's PR is down to 3 again... as if I care Sticking out tongue
perhaps because I crossposted some content here, and I have been less active on the LinkedIn Q&A

PR is just an indication of how well your site is received on the internet, which may possibly (depending on who you talk to) give you a higher position on the search engine rankings.

Traffic to your site will depend on a number of factors; how easy is your site found by people, how much in demand is your service / product, etc, etc...

What did you do in particular to get your PR to 3 so soon? Did you post on forums and blogs? Did other sites just naturally link to you? I know the emphasis here is not to get carried with PR, but I still want to do what I can get a PR ranking, because it is a factor in SERPS.

For me High on SERP is more important than PR.. If your site is high on SERP the more traffic it will get..

The free music for life blogspot doesn't even exist anymore!

I agree that PR is not the only important indicator, but it doesn't hurt. Back links, SERP, SEO and content will help a lot more than PR.

PR does not equal traffic. Actually I could care less about PRs on some of my sites that get over a 1000 visitors a day.

PR just shows how hard you work on optimizing your website, so like what you had said it won't really affect traffic but without increasing your page ranking there's a possibility that you won't get indexed by search engines or you had a lower visibility.

Why would you say Google pagerank is important?

But not necessarily a way to increase your pagerank.
"Lots and lots of links" can have adverse affect on your page rank if the links are poor quality or are on a bad site that spams or has spammy techniques.

It's really not as simple as "more links = higher page rank". The links MUST be of high quality and should really be from sites with similar or relevant content to your own.

Signature links on this forum are NO-follow! - This means spam is futile!

PR has nothing to do with traffic just a value given by google. if you need hits try ranking your site for a keyword.

you traffic is not increasing because of your ranking in the search results wont changed, that means SEPR is the same but only the PR is changed, and you have to wait some more time to get changed the pr.

well, we cant say that pr is deeply concern with you traffic, but as you are working on to get back links, you must have to go with some traffic websites which can really lead you great..
