You also want to choose keywords that are easy to potimize for, like "webmaster tools" instead of "webmaster"

You could use inventory.overture.com to know how many times some keywords have been searched in yahoo

There's an extension for Joomla which tells you what keywords people search for when they visit your website and that has helped me to find out what words to advertise for.

Your keywords should be descriptive and closely related to the product or service you're offering. Choose specific keywords relevant to products or services you offer instead of choosing competitive and generic terms.
