I've just recently launched my website, and I was wondering if anyone had any tips on giving my website a kickstart?
I'm already trading links, but find it somewhat frustrating -- every site promotion article I read talks about how reciprocal linking is golden. But most emails I get back say "Sorry, you need x amount of traffic before we even consider you".
Any tips and ideas are welcome...
Thanks in advance.

Well first off, I'd just like the say that your site looks very cool. Tons of great links and content you're linking to there. Other then your site the only other site like yours is Article Central (www.articlecentral.com). So you definitely could bring in a lot of traffic... soon....
First off let me talk about your META tags. Your title tag is longer then your keyword tag, which is a little strange. Cut down on the length and keyword use in the title, then just put as many keywords down as you can think of. Don't think of too many though
Second, I'm guessing you're submitting your site to search engines every 3-4 weeks, correct? If so, then you just need to wait for the search engines to list you.
Finally, have you checked out What Next (www.what-next.com) yet? There are some good articles listed there. You might also want to check out the Search Engines Forums (www.searchengineforums.com) and the Get High Traffic Forums (www.gethighforums.com).
Good luck!

Hi nail,
Send me an e-mail, I imagine we can work out an exchange of some sort.

I might not be able to get back to you until next week, but I'll get back.

I was also thinking of writing content and then submitting it to other websites, like newsletter articles, etc...has anyone had any experiences when trading content for links with other websites?

Usually they'll let you add your signiture to the bottom of the article with your name/link/whatever. Sometimes they even have writer profiles that people can look at. I've heard it's a good way to become known...

Yeah, I agree, if your material is good and people find it useful most often they will visit your bio at the end of the article.

generally it just takes time to get a stable and decent search engine position.
some good ways to kickstart traffic is by paying for traffic, holding a contest, or giving away freebies.
