Most stats like webalizer etc that comes with a lot of hosting is pretty good, then again depends on what exactly you want stats about.

I find that Awstats is pretty good, but also use analytics (from google).
The major downside of analytics is that it is based on a javascript system being put into your site and hence doesn't pick up people just viewing images or videos (quite important to me...)

I find Analytics good, especially as it is free. You are limited to 5 site profiles but hopefully you will be able to add more, for a cost i'm sure, later on.
You have to put a JavaScript snippet on every page you want to track.
My biggest annoyance is not being able to customise stats, like the graphs. I'm not entirely sure what they represent time wise.

If you can spend the money use: deepmetrix.com They're about the best. If you're looking for free do a search for "extreme tracking". They're good.

Has anyone heard of Funnelweb? It was a great little Web site logfile analyzer. Eventually, a big company bought it and gave it away for free. About a year ago I wanted to go grab the free copy, but found that they had taken down their links and the whole thing was just dead.
However, I found my old copy, along with PDF manuals and everything. It's not open source, but it is 100% free. If anyone can endure an 18 MB download, it's on my site here:

The best statistics program is WebSEO, it's free for 5 sites I guess and gives all information in the easiest way. I use it for a year.
