Hello everybody,
I was wondering if anybody could tell me what affiliate programs that you have joined that pay a good amount of money. If you could please provide a link to their web site that would be helpful. Thanks!

Corbbmacc, since your site is targeted towards webmasters, you may find that the affiliate programs offered by most web hosts perform well.
As far as well-rounded affiliate networks go, there are several well-established players that have provided reliable, and relatively high, payments for years. The cream of the crop are:
Commission-Junction
Websponsors.com
OnResponse
DirectLeads
Sponsorships.net
There is some advertiser overlap within these programs, and each uses slightly different placement and reporting systems, so your choice from the above may very well vome down to subjective factors, such as which one you feel offers the most intuitive administrative system. They are all good, though.

I would also recommend http://www.cj.com as it's a 3 tier third party affiliate program where webmasters can join to earn some extra income. Choose you merchants wisely and you wont regret it and their payment is guaranteed. They have hundreds of merchants you can choose from.
Another great 3 party affiliate program I would highly recommend is http://www.clickbank.com they have more than a thousand small merchants that you can make money selling some of their excellent software and programs. But be aware no sales, no commission but the commission is very attractive and some as high as 40% They are very prompt with their payment so you don't have to worry of not getting paid.
Avoid http://www.linkshare.com they have somewhat similar merchants as cj.com and it's also a 3 tier affiliate program, but from experience, it's hard to get your commission on time, When I was with them, I earned as high as $350.00 at one time but had to repeatedly pester the co for payment.

NSS

NSS, I don't know why you say 3-tier, those are 2-tier programs. Well, actually the theory wants CJ to be infinite tier, but from 3rd level on you can count the cents: for example if someone gets $1,000 commission, 2nd-tier would be $50, 3rd-tier $2.50, 4th tier $0.125, 5th-tier $0.00625 and so on...
ClickBank has a 2-tier program for the sale of merchant accounts. The single merchants programs are all single-tiered, but I agree that many are very good.
LinkShare paid me always on time, but it might be just a case. I don't like them because too many merchants run away from them, and I hate to be removing links all the time!

I agree it's infinite-Tier but beyond the 3rd-Tier it's difficult to guage your referrals' downline so normally it's referred as a 3-Tier program.
Please note that CJ pays $2 for each new referral that generates a transaction, plus 5% of the commissions your referral earns for as long as they are a member of CJ and from your member earning stats you only have access to your referrals only and how much they are earning and nothing beyond that.
For the benefit of TWF members interested or looking for affliate programs I am listing some good sites that you can source for it.

Oh, you didn't mention my site, and I've been around for longer than all of those others (except for Adbility.com, which similarly wasn't mentioned).
Anyway, Net-Ads also features reviews of the best affiliate programs and ad networks.

Hi CorbbmaccO,
I hope the above will provide you the links to supercharge your site for webmasters. BTW, I visited your site and it definitely has great potentials to becoming a popular site with visitors in the very near future and WOW! the layout and color scheme is really professional looking(simple and nice)
I would suggest that you give priority to the CJ affiliate program, that's where you can earn very good money each month, just imagine if you have 500 referrals(downline)and average earning $100 per month (100 X 500=$50,000.00) and 5% for you is $2,500.00 plus extras through your own effort selling merchants' products.... Well, every month you can just relax and laugh all the way to the bank!
Hope this helps.
Regards,
NSS

I looked over CJ. Lots of good programs but few "brand names".
I was looking under listings such as web services, food, sports etc.

Well Jaiem, In your case I would recommend that you source elsewhere to look for suitable programs that will suit your site's content.
Maybe add some interesting web hosting news to keep visitors coming back or get your visitors to sign up to your mailing list on web hosting articles, and one good place to source would be hostsearch.com, hostindex.com, etc.
Just some optimistic ideas,
Regards,
NSS

There are some potential ones but people usually like known names. And for the subject of my other site I didn't see too many. Also don't want to add affiliates that may drain business away from me!

Drain business away? What are you talking about!
I never eard of someone who got to a site, decided to buy something, then saw a banner or a link and left forgetting to make the purchase he was intentioned to.
I eard the opposit, thought. People getting to a site unsure if to buy or not, then clicked on a "second opinion" link and left the site just to come back right after and complete the transaction.
Let me tell you what: if I sell coconut cookies online I definitely want to have at least two affiliate's links on my site. The first one of a coconut cookies retailer offering lower quality and price then I, and the second one offering the same quality at higher price then I.
This way I raise the chances to sell my product and, in case I don't sell it, still get commissions from my own competitors!
Of course I wouldn't forget a link to the "100 Most Famous Coconut Receipes Book".

I agree with Jaiem.
1)Creating brand image in today's society cannot be over-valued. It provides an organization with a distinct and memorable personality for consumers to know and trust.
2)It acts as a tangible symbol of its unique values, essence and good will. It creates loyalty for a company, respect for its principals and preference for its services - regardless of price. It is the most valuable asset a business can have.
3)When your site is associated with more branded names then you create an impression to visitors that your site is reliable and buying something from you they can be assured of value for their money in terms of products, services, etc.
ALSO
Looking at Dan's perspective and point of view, he's also right as his main concern is to maximize profit so it doesn't matter whether the customer is a brand loyalist or not as he is also aware that there are customers of a different bred and may buy alternatives and there's where his site plays an important service to visitors providing the prospective customers a choice of selections.

NSS

Dan - Interesting idea, using relatively "bad" affiliates to make your own products look better. Going to have to sleep on it.
I still think people aren't going to shop around as much and compare you to the affiliates. And who knows, maybe you consider the affiliates "bad" but others like them! So they buy from the affiliate and not you. If the company has a memorable name they may go there directly and skip you altogether so you don't get the commission. People can just as easily bookmark the affiliate site and go there themselves. Not all affiliates cookie visitors and even those that do you only get 30 or 60 days.
My point is with an affiliate you run the risk of people not returning to your site. So pick affiliates carefully.
Dan, also always remember that inspite of how you and I accept buying online many Johnny Q. Public surfer are still very leary of e-commerce. Seeing known brand names on your site can help make them feel more at easy.

From own and eard of experience I can say that most people DO surf through several sites before deciding where to make a purchase.
It is also right that many people are scared to make purchases on line. I personally build my sites thinking about the people who are already used to e-commerce. Of course I can still try to aim new "e-buyers" to make their first step, but this is not my main goal. First things first.
It's just like in the "Real World". If I open a tennis store, I first try to have tennis players to shop at my place. To try to have more people playing tennis is allright, but this is not my main goal. First things first.
Now: brand name affiliate or "poor bastard" affiliate? Well, this has to be decided case by case, since it depends on various factors. Sometimes a combination of both kind of affiliates may be the ideal solution.
Affiliate cookies are another interesting matter of conversation. Some track visitors for 1 day, others for 99 years, most something between 45 and 180 days thought. I'll have to make a research about it.

Hi all,
There is an affiliate program provider, which suppleis its affiliates also with software to help promote its programs to search engines. The software automaticly makes entrance pages optimized for automaticly or mannually choosen keywords. I have been member of it for some three months and now its getting success. Provider pays montlhy, 2 weeks after the month ends.

If you're looking for brand name affilitaites, I would recommend Reporting.net.
Unlike CJ, they don't pay you by themselves - just make the connection to affiliate programs (and do the tracking and all).

I received an email from Herbal Wonder informing me that I had made a sale. Sometimes later, checking my stats, I realized that the sale wasn't reported. I emailed them and asked what happened: after an intense correspondance a nice person named Tim Pawlak was able to find out the problem and to fix it.
Thumbs up!
