Your main problem is the content. I see too few topics. Almost all "normal" members like to reply not start new threads, so you might take this into account too Smiling

Start 10-30 new topics a day for some good period and after you've got something like 400-500 topics you'll see a sudden increase in posting too ... You have many categories and they look empty.

BTW .. nice phpBB site Smiling

You might want to try some kind of pay-to-post or post exchange service, whereby you either pay people to start threads on your forum or you trade posts with another webmaster who is also trying to get their forum running.

The best way to find paid posters or to exchange posts is to make a request at a forum like this one--most people on this forum are competent posters already, and many probably have forums of their own. Just post a paid offer or a request for an exchange and you'll probably get some interest.

One more thing--your site needs some copy editing. Your tagline is awkwardly worded and you use the wrong form of your (it should be you're). It's easy to overlook grammar and usage when you're coding your site, but even little mistakes can hurt your credibility.

yeah, to get members you have to have members. this is a problem for me as well. I end up using my forums as a sort of blog as I only get a few members posting between 1-3 topics before they stop coming back.

I've not got the time to start 10+ topics a day by myself tho...

As mentioned above the best ways to get a forum going are either to make new threads yourself everyday as most of the members don't prefer to start new threads, or run a posting contest where first 25 or first 50 members on reaching a specific no. of posts get a reward.

one way I've gotten forums that I've managed "going" is I'd start threads with high discussion potential, and then I'd post a link to that thread in similar forums and direct them to add their own 2 cents... It has honestly worked every time... Just have to be persistent with it, and have patience...

I have a phpBB forum and I am always getting new posters. As a matter of fact I have a program that automatically deletes new members if they do not meet certain critieria. Have the search engines crawl your site. New members will find you...

My problem-- I do not want new members... I use mine to list things.
