I dont think so that no follow links will help you to improve SEs ranking.
No follow links can give you only traffics nothing more.

Here are some other topics about blog commenting:

I think you probably meant to ask about "dofollow" blog commenting, not "no follow" commenting?

Here's a viewpiont from one of the experts:

From Rand Fishkin at SEOMoz, in 12 Easy Mistakes that Plague Newcomers to the SEO Field:

12. Chasing DoFollow Blogs

When did dofollow blogs become the link acquisition practice du jour? Honestly, I have yet to see competitive rankings earned from a dofollow blog link strategy, and the focus on it to the exclusion of other, more valuable and scalable linking tactics is a cause for concern. When you're starting a link building campaign, remember the immortal words "nothing worth having comes easy."

If you have an SEO services company, as advertised in your signature, you should know these things.

no follow attribute tells search engines to not follow or count that link so basically posting comment on no follow sites does not help in any way to improve google rankings, but it does increases your traffic

I've noticed some no follow links actually helping ranking but it could be just a fluke...they help few and far between. Best thing to do is focus on do follow but if you get a no follow link it can only benefit you so no worries.

yeah, its helpful to increase organic traffic to your site and if blog has high PR then its also helpful in search ranking also.

@seodragon,
I too wonder why someone that has a "seo company" would be asking this?
And would you really believe it if you read it on a forum?
The official word is that google does not follow no-follow, so it is worthless.
I would like to know if do-follow blog comments have any real value, but it sounds like from the above comments and what I have read they aren't worth much either.

No, the official word is that nofollow links are followed (they do appear as backlinks), but do not transfer pagerank and anchor text.

Btw, just curious. Has anyone ever had people click on links in blog comments?

Comments from NoFollow blogs does not improve nor does it hurt your website position in search engine results. But good for human traffic if you contribute wisely ..

For ranking on google, it won't help. Try to find those dofollow blogs which are relevant to your site, but don't spam.

In my opinion No follow doesn't work for Google Search engine Ranking. with the help of this tag you restrict search engine to crawl that external link so may bot consider them links but not rank them.
Hope you understand What I want to say....

I think the original poster should clarify if he really meant to ask about "no follow" or "do follow".
In either case, writing quality blog comments is very time-consuming and requires a lot of organization. You will soon tire of it, unless you are genuinely interested in becoming a part of that blog's community.

Ranking has nothing to do with traffic other than the fact that a higher ranking can bring more of it as long as the keywords and other search terms being optimized for are the ones that people actually use when looking something up online.

Nofollow Links. some people say that it may generate traffic. but what my point is if your going only for backlink why do u waste time commenting on nofollow blogs and having a doubt with two mind "will it effect to my back link" rather than finding a dofollow blog and putting a comment.
because i also had a doubt on this and tried to search what is right and what is wrong then i found out its only waste of time to find out about this and i start to search dofollow blogs. rather than finding nofollow will effect or not.

No Follow has no value for seo. A do follow has ten times as much value as no follow (10 x 0 = 0). Both are a waste of time for link building. You should only read blogs that you are interested in, and should only leave a comment when you have something to say.
And if you don't believe that google DOES NOT follow no follow, leave a comment by a made-up unique name like RockADingDongDude and then in a few weeks do a search for it on Yahoo and Google. On yahoo you may get the linked to page to show up, but it won't on google.

I agree no follow site isn't a useless thing. They also help to promote your site so don't think if they won't help you. They would be benefit for you at least for your traffic. Even I heard that no follow is still counted by Google, however may be that's a false theory.

Definitely no!
Commenting on blogs that hand out no follow links will be ignored by the search engines. They won't help you rank higher. The no follow attribute was introduced as a standard feature of Blogger and WordPress. This took most of the SEO value out of links posted in user comments of blogs. However, commenting on do follow blogs will be loved by the search engines and raise your rankings. One thing you need to pay attention –if your comment looks like a spammy, definitely the owner will remove it. That’s why many people found their comments were rejected. It is said that many blogs are so tired go being used just as a backlink resource.
You should make considerable research. if you can find a list of do follow blogs that are relevant to your niche, you've found a very useful potential backlink source. Make sure that your links are relevant to specific threads and do not spam the blogs. After all, no blog will reject useful, meaningful and relevant comments.

If the blog is relevant it can provide some good direct traffic. It may also help search engine rankings on search engines that do not consider the nofollow tag. I think as spammers now target dofollow links, the search engines may still consider nofollow links as they may become the more trusted link.

I'm no SEO expert, but have read you should try for a "natural" looking mix of links - this should include a few nofollow links to make the link pattern look more natural. I have also heard that Yahoo ingores nofollow.

Posting comments in no follow blogs will only help you to generate traffic to your site/blog you're linking back. But from SEO perspective I don't think it'll help you.

Hi,

No follow blog commenting will not help you in google ranking but these links can effect your site position in yahoo.

Do follow is better but no follow can give you also traffics so we should collect also no follow links from popular blogs.

Thanks

I partly disagree with this one, as I believe part of rank is due to the traffic levels to a particular page..

If the site is “Nofollow” search engines don’t follow that link and you don’t get any increase in search engine rankings from that link. It is important when you are looking for sites and blogs that you could leave your link on it for high traffic. But some times it increase traffic when ur contents & comments are qualified one.

i have observed some website and blogs and check their backlinks by doing link:websitedomain.com at google

and i checked the backlink listed in the google result one by one,
what a surprise that i found a nofollow link on there!
from that day, i consider nofollow and dofollow is equally important,
besides, although SE don't pass any reputation with nofollow link, we can make our link building campaign more natural by gathering both nofollow and dofollow links

In link searches the engines they will show nofollow links. That doesn't mean they count. For the purposes of those algorithms they don't care whether the link passes value or not. It is true that having a mix makes for a more natural profile, although that still doesn't mean that you should go around spamming blogs.

Nofollow attribute is working for your website ranking in search engine because it only use to restrict search engine to crowl your link with in the web page and commenting on nofollow blog is not working regarding search engine but user may click you nofollow link from that page so it not overall bad but focusing on dofollow blog commenting if you want ranking in search engine.
Thanks

According to my experience about nofollow blog commenting ..
1. nofollow links cannot pass link juice so has no use in gaining PR for your website
2. If the comment is so good that link may generate some traffic to your website
3. Yahoo is still counting nofollow links as valid backlinks. So nofollow blog commenting may help in optimizing your site for yahoo

Not all search engines obey the nofollow tag!
Even those do will still follow the link, they just wont pass over any Page Rank from that link, however it seems that the anchor text from these links still counts!

Hi,
IMO no follow link will not help us to get placed in serp. The best way to get high rank in serp is quality one way backlinks with unique and fresh content.

from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nofollow :
"Google states that their engine takes "nofollow" literally and does not "follow" the link at all. However, experiments conducted by SEOs show conflicting results. These studies reveal that Google does follow the link, but does not index the linked-to page, unless it was in Google's index already for other reasons (such as other, non-nofollow links that point to the page)."

So apparently it affect either traffic, either Google SERP

Hi,
No Follow is an HTML attribute to instruct some search engines that a hyperlink should not influence link target ranking in the search engine index. its intend to reduce the effectiveness of the certain types sear engine spam, there by improving the quality of the search engine result.
