Well, this is my account of the ODP...they are like everyone always says.

When you become an editor, the power goes to your head.

I think he is just saying that in the spirit of being unbiased, there not be a way for people to specifically request reviews, and that it is more fair for everyone to have to go throught the same process of submitting and hoping for approval. I would suggest submitting to other categories. Also, if you want to become an editor, apply in a very small category, and you will probably get it. Do a good job, and ask for another small category. Eventually, you should be able to get to even edit this category where you have requested a link.

dvduval...I applied to a small category ~25 links and was rejected since I had a site that fit that category.

I have been waiting over a year for inclusion and nothing...these editors have time to post 5000 posts, but no time to edit sites...ridiculous.

If a sites quality is questionable, the easiest thing for the editor to do is not edit it at all. The good news is every time that editor edits that category they have the option to visit the site again. Always try to improve the site if it not accepted.

Also like dvduval said submit to another category.

Catagories might be listed as 25 sites, but they also contain all the sub categories and every site in them. Keep that in mind.

Definitely submit to another category, and even apply to be an editor of another category where the Meta in question is not even involved.

You have to remember, the guys that edit Dmoz are all volunteers doing this in their spare time. Do you know how difficult moderating a busy category is? It's bloody tough - I know because I do it myself!

Andy, I wasn't doubting the difficulity, I was complaining that editors have time to post over 5000 times but don't have time to edit sites.

I don't think that those 5000 posts were over a period of a month or any short time span like that... the Dmoz forums have been up for years!

Hi,

We asked them several times to add designload.net to dmoz..they never did. It's more than 15 months, and still nothing.
The only site we got there is designgalaxy.net, but that's about it.

Makes me really mad.

I think you need to remember that DMOZ is a free service run by volunteers. They don't owe you anything and they don't have to list your site.

If they aren't excepting your submission, you may just have to give up.

Both of those sites are affiliate template stores, you are lucky to have one listing. I’m not being a jerk, according to dmoz listing guidelines your sites should not be listed. Companies or people are not to have multiple “front ends” listed.

Dmoz in principle is about information. They have no obligation to any webmaster. If your category has been changed, but your site not listed, then the editor deleted the submission or left it in queue where it will most likely stay.
