Auto submitters is bad, I would avoid this site like the plague

I had a quick look but couldn't find the list of diectories it uses but the sample html report tells many porkies:
http://altavista.com/

Type: Search Engine
http://www.google.com/

Type: Search Engine

google for example clearly state programmes like this will get you banned.
200 directories for free? thats a lot of ma and pa websites you wouldn't get traffic from anyway.

Hand submit your site to google, yahoo, msn, dmoz, altavista and thats about all you need. these ma and pa type directories sponge off the big ones.

Save your money, save your site from being banned and save your sanity - only takes 5 mins to use a submitter but years to get your site un blacklisted

If you want to get indexed, then all you need are a few good links pointing to your site (from relevant websites)

To help with your SEO efforts, try submitting your website (manually) to the directories listed here: http://www.directorycritic.com/free-directory-list.html none of them require a link back or for you to pay to be listed

There is a good program you can buy called Directory Submitter. It will store all of your information in the program so you can just go to each site and manually submit without having to fill out all the long forms.

It has built in a list of all the major directories and gives you updates with new ones added recently.

I personally prefer to do directory submissions manually. Basically, I tend to stay away from anything automated. That's just me.

I think its better to submit a site manually to the directories. However its a time taking process, but a good approach.
But my question is how a search engine, finds that a site is submitted manually/automatically in the directory. If the directory has no problem in the way of submission, howcome the search engine has a problem to recognise it.

i recently submitted my site to google and they said if i submitted it repeatedly through other site i would be banned....so i decided to do only manual submisson.

As a directory owner I can tell you that if I find a site submitted to a wrong category or using some bot agent, I ban the ip, remove all sites submitted from this ip and also I ban the domain submitted.

I started doing this since I was not able to face large amount of spam submissions, and I think many directory owners reached this conclusions.

So, I suggest everyone to follow manual submission and to read terms of each separate directory before submitting.

I dont think it a good odea to use an automated sumitting system as they will submis to search engines repeatedly and some like google will ban you if you submis too many times

I agree with Daniel.

The program Directory Submitter isn't an auto-submitter per se - It's designed to make the task of submitting your sites to directories less of a headache. Perhaps a 'semi-auto' submitter then...? LOL!

It's still 'manual' in the fact that you have to visit each directory, choose the relevant category and enter the code - if the site has a spam protector on it.

Basically you load up a few titles, descriptions and keywords into the software relevant to your site. (I like to load up my main keyword combinations in the titles - taking care the titles actually make sense when read and don't look spammy. A few variations of the same descriptions, then I'm set.) The program assists you in locating the directories of choice and makes the job of submitting to them a bit easier.

Directory Submitter rotates your titles, descriptions and keywords for you as you submit to the various directories.

You could do the same by having a notepad open with these variations typed in and then opening a big directory list like Directory Critic. You'd have to manually cut and paste your titles, descriptions and URL though.

The important thing with this is the fact that you can use your keyword combination in the 'anchor text' link back from the directory - thus increasing your site's off page link factors around keywords of your choice.

I like these directories, because they're humanly moderated, there's a natural lag in the time it takes between posting your link and getting your site's link actually listed. This way you don't get a whole bunch of links in one go pointing at your site... It's almost like drip feeding links to your site.

I think directory critic allows you to sort the directories by PR rank if that is your want. You could then concentrate on directories with PR over a certain number if you wished - There'd obviously be a longer wait on these established sites between post and link appearing. If you're after quick listings, stick with the sites that are currently un-ranked, soon enough these directories will have PR of their own and the webmasters are that bit quicker in releasing sites that have been submitted to them.

Go manual, that way you know where you submit your site to, you control the descriptions, titles, etc.
And very important, you know you submit your site to the right category, a program can send it to a wrong one and not only you won't get listed but maybe you'll be banned from the site.
