I need a nonbiased opinion on this particular company. I am new to affiliations and would like to know how or if affiliation programs actually can produce additional income to the site. Can someone help me understand:

1. Is this company a reputable one?
2. Are there other affiliation companies out there (if this one is not a good company)?
3. Does anyone have personal experience with this company?

Thanks for your getting back to me.

1. Yes.

2. There are many, another popular one is LinkShare - but many can attest to it being even worse than CJ. The difference between CJ and Linkshare is with Linkshare, it's up to the individual merchants to pay you on time - or at all, meaning Linkshare takes no responsibility for payments, unlike CJ, which will pay you directly.

3. I use CJ, but with little success. It's a good concept and many use it (some with success; I know someone who makes hundreds a month from it). It's all in the type of site you run and the merchants you pick as well as how you advertise them.

Hi Marc,

I plan to feature a small number of APs on sites I'm currently planning for this/next year. Just to clarify your comment above:

Are you saying that you think CJ offers a good service to affiliates provided you do your own end right?

Or is there some drawback with CJ itself too?

It's been a couple of years since I had a good look at APs - back then CJ was the rising star earning great reviews from the top guys like Allan Gardyne. Then some cracks began to show - but maybe that was growing pains?

Some specifics you might know:
1. Is their minimum cookie limit still 45 days [I think it was 45...]
2. What's their current minimum payment threshhold?
3. Do they still accumulate all your earnings and pay if above the CJ minimum? [even if you're below individual companies' minimums]
4. How's their tracking, and their merchants' tracking?

Thanks Smiling

Mike.

Thanks fellas for helping me out.. it really helps to get an unbiased opinion on CJ.

Please let me know if there are any cautions to watchout for.

The fees are a little high at $1295 setup and $3000 account balance, with the dot.coms bubble can this fee be justified with a good return on investment?

I am creating an environmental site, does anyone have any recommendations as to how I can tie in commission junction with environmental issues?

Thanks again for all your help.

Bill

Mike, I think CJ offers a good service and there isn't anything better out there for such a big network.

1. Not sure, sorry.

2 & 3. The minimum payout is $25 in the states and $50 outside. Your earnings carry over until you generate the minimum.

4. Their tracking is all right, I have no complaints.

i have a site-with one link with them on-i have made some money with this solitary link, but with 1000's of hits a day it doesnt seem to translate into the revenue i feel it should. As for targetting-another uk site generate some u.s leads.not knowing what to do with them i tried cj.i know b4 cj how many leads i was getting but miracliously with cj it generates none now.Needless to say it confirmed to me much of what is bad about cj-u have to trust there advertisers to report leads/sales and this doesnt seem in the webmasters interest.

Another site lacks the kind of content to make money ,so i have tried different cj experiments with it to.(had hundred of ads on from cj)all performed so poorly beyond belief. Its not the lack of revenue that really is worrying-its giving away all that free pagerank for little reward. In the long run i feel the site is more valuable without cj links for its pagerank value.
