Do the basic onpage methods effectively. You should do the directory submission, forum posting, social networking, social bookmarking to get the natural oneway links. You should regularly update the content with fresh unique useful updates. This will help a lot.

If the website is new and want to generate traffic is not an easy task. It completely depends on how old the domain is. Still there are ways to generate traffic to new build website. First of all the website onpage optimization should be completely done. After onpage is complete submit site to search engines. After that complete offpage optimization should be done continuously.
