Probably not worth the effort. Any links you add to a blog are usually automatically coded as 'nofollow' so search engines don't follow them.
However, if you have thousands of followers, some of those followers may follow your links. So if you've only half-a-dozen or so followers there's no point.

Will SEO methods change from year to year? I doubt that too ~
From my understanding, there are more SEO methods from years to years. For instant, SEO methods change from blog commenting to forum posting; from forum posting to article submission; from article submission to social bookmarking, and etc.
Majority of blogs are nofollow, it is hard to find dofollow blogs. To prevent effort wasted, I seldom comment in blog

Couldn't agree more. When I do find dofollow blogs that allow comments, I make a huge effort in getting my links on the page and I leave plenty of comments. Other than that, commenting on for example, blogger blogs is a big waste of time because Google will give you no love for your linking.

As we know Recent Google Panda update, how difficult is to publish the content to generate the back links with lot of restriction so Blog commenting is essential to generate the back-links So Blog Commenting is really helpful in SEO 2011..

In my opinion, nofollow links will also give our keywords some link juice.coz we couldn't only get the dofollow backlinks. we also need get nofollow backlinks to enhance our SERP.Even though the links in forum signature is nofollow,But i think google will consider it is a kind of backlink to our site too.

Yes blog commenting is very helpful for increasing back links for any website . but comments should be genuine.Most of blogs owner approved comments manually therefore comments are not approved quickly.

Well it depends upon how smartly u do it! If you start spamming the other blogs, you'll never get any benefits... but you may definitely get your email IDs & domains black-listed in anti-spam filters, and plugins like Akismet for WP (lol!).
And, are you kidding me? I still build Pr4-5 dofollow links through blog comments today! (though they're EXTREMELY tough to get!)

I do not think so, because if the comment is unique and quality one then there will be no bad effect. Just doing quality work as per the Google guidelines then you will be at top.
