Hello everyone.
I have recently created a banner exchange program for webmasters to gain traffic to their sites. It has been up for about a week now, yet only has myself and one other person in it. How can I advertise this effectively to gain more members. I know the beggining is always the hardest.
PS. If any of you join, send me an email at admin@18candygirls.com and you will get 1,000 extra impressions
.

I don't mean to discourage you, but banner ad is becoming less and less effective, so it's tough to promote program like this.

Actually, the demise of banner ads is greatly exaggerated. Certainly they're not some sort of miracle solution, but if they are part of a larger marketing campaign, they can still be pretty effective.
My views on the matter prompted me to write this article back in January:

I think it can work for brand advertising, but because of that, I am not so sure if this is for small guys and gals like me.

Agreed yetanotherfcw, lots of banner ads on relevant sites will spread your brand, but if you haven't got the budget to cover many sites then it's not going to work.
Is it not true that TV ads work in the same sort of way? Just a reminder of the brand. For example: McDonalds doesn't make profit based upon it's amazingly tasty burgers.
