I'm thinking... if I want to come up with the entry level e-commerce, I may use PayPal with some free shopping cart service.
I have two questions.
One. is my statement above correct? if not, do you have any suggestions?
Two. What would be the good shopping cart service (code) I can use?
Thank you very much.

PP has a shopping cart service. But customers have to be PP members and that could turn people off.
Offer PP as a payment option but not the only one.

I have only spoken to one person about Paypal and they gave me the warning to check ou this site http://www.paypalwarning.com/Default.htm
It would seem they don't have a perfect record. But do you believe everything you read ? I don't know enough to recommend either way.

paypal is free, give it a try, but it will definitely turn some off because they would have to sign up with pp before they could make a purchase, instead of just entering they cc info and going on with life.

PP is not free!
PP will charge you the business a fee for receiving payments from customer credit cards (deducted from the payment sent). Granted, the rate is lower than many CC processor charges (at the moment anyway) but it's still a charge. And if you receive over $100 month you have to register as a business which means more fees for certain functions.

PayPal is pretty good, not free however, as a buyer (could just be that i'm international) I do get charged by paypal, I cant remeber the percentage but after spending 6000 (in seperate purchases) then getting my cc statement and finding these hidden costs I no longer use them.
I've heard many complaints from international users, but paypal itself says its really only geared up for US and Canadian users.
but without the user fees paypal is quick, easy and most people seem to trust it.

yes, the hidden fees to consumers totally bites. It's not a minimal percentage, either -- on $70 it was over $2. That's 3.5% or so. Factor in the exchange and I paid a whopping premium to the third party.
I approved a fee of $70, nothing more. But it still came out of my credit card.
I actually distrust people who use paypal now.

PP buyer fees?
I guess it would depend on how you fund your PP account. I use my CC and so far haven't seen any fees charged to me as a buyer, just deducted from payments received when I'm the seller.

I grant that I haven't used my CC via PP to pay for anything lately, but last year (at least through October) I bought a lot of stuff with PP and was always charged what I expected. I read my CC statements like a hawk and would have a fit if the charges didn't match what I expected them to be.
I'll have to re-read the PP TOS. I suppose it could have since changed.

I just checked PP. On their "Getting Started" page, right at the top it says PP's services are free to consumers (i.e. buyers). I can't find any mention of fees to customers for just paying for a purchase.
