For those who have "been there and done that"

I'd like to build a revenue generating site to supplement my business income, and would like some tips, suggestions or references that may help in furtherance of my research.

I believe that you should find out what people want to buy and then give it to them, providing greater value than they expect.

My research so far indicates that downloadable information or binary products are easiest to sell, and that clickbank and 2checkout are good "starter systems" for billing.

I don't expect to make "$100,000 monthly with no work at all!". a couple of thousand net would be a tidy sum and a terrific success.

Basically, I'd like to find out what sells best, and what sources are there for me to resell?

Is there a resource somewhere on the net that will reveal what people buy more than anything else? Are there software companies that will "drop ship" their products which you sell on your site?

I apologize if these questions seem sophomoric and clueless, but I have found in my offline business that it's cheaper to learn from the mistakes that others have already made than to make them again.

IMO the market is flooded already.
Every Tim, Henry and Fred has an affiliate link farm and/or trying to push products from other companies, i.e. amazon.
People wise up to these tricks and just go buy direct, before the dot com crash (back a few years ago) it was easy money and people remember this and try jump on the same bandwagon, sadly the times have changed - no real free meals now.

There are ways and products that can make money and even some affiliate links but are usually designed for first time viewers to a site and not for repeat customers (which you really want).

A legite way to make some money is to buy and sell on ebay, it's crazy what people buy. Lots of people buy through yard sales etc and sell them on, I personally know several people making really good livings in US doing this - buy in bulk sell off seperatly.

Some people are like slinkies, they dont really serve any purpose but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs ...

It is ashame that just about every market you enter it is flooded with hundreds of other entrepreneurs. It is very, very hard to make a stand on the internet.

What you need to do is download the "Good Keywords" program, and type in a few keywords that you are interested in. Then from there, find a keyword that gets about 2000-4000 searches a month in overture. Create a website around those specific keywords. It is much better to target a smaller group and build from there. I know this doesn't really answer your question, but it is good advice.

Thanks teammatt3! That's just the sort of information I was looking for. I am thankful for any suggestions that more experienced users are willing to give me.

A great place to start a digital products business is to start a mobile content website.

Mobile ringtones, logo's and games are a hot product to sell online, especially with teens.

Best of all, you can set a fully customised site with all the content and promotion materials you need with up to 70% commission for free, leaving you with a big budget to advertise with!

I will even help you get you new ringtone business off the ground for you if you wish.

If you are interested, email me at lbnet3@msn.com

Kind Regards.

Yeah we sell our traffic on ebay, it works good, and its a great experience meeting the people.

Digital info products are a great way too. I personally buy about 6-12 per year, and I like the instant gratification, so.. definatley go with something like clickbank where your product can be delivered instantly.
