Hi I really need some help on this one I have been asked to set up an e commerce site for a friend, I have no experience with php and my sql though.
Can anyone suggest an inexpensive solution.
He has about 20 products that he sells each needs a page of its own with a buy button is there any cut and paste code I could use?
I know this is all basic stuff but its stuff I have not had to deal with until now.
Any help gratefully recieved.

If he's going to use something like PayPal, you could just use PayPal's built in shopping cart. They provide HTML for the buttons to add to cart and so on.

If you only have 20 products you could just use static HTML. You don't always have to use PHP and MySQL for ecommerce websites. I'll second PayPal. Just setup an account upgrade to Business Standard, and the rest is pretty easy. Just cut and paste the code and use their shopping cart.

I maybe seems to be some backward, but I believe in security more than the features you are providing. Thats why I still preffer to use Paypal's own Cart System.

just create simple html pages for the products because you have only 20 products. so there is no need of any shopping cart. you can manage it without the php and sql. but you have to install php mailer or some other mailing software so that you can email the orders to the owner.

I would suggest going with a shopping cart incase his stock quantity grows. It can be very tedious and inefficient to keep adding html pages, especially if you start bbranching into sub-categories etc.
What exactly is the budget?
