Personally I prefer osCommerce and Zen cart both open sourse, osCommerce can be a bit of a pain to set up but not so hard that a person can't figure it out.
Zen cart is an out take of osCommerce not as bloted so a little eaiser to set up, both are easy to customize to fit your site design.

yeah I was looking at oscommerce but its free and provides no support, also Im looking for something that lets you export some of these new feeds like froogle feeds or google site maps or yahoo malls or nextag...these free ones dont do that....plus harder set up usually means much more feautres.

Man I spent hours going through them all and came to use cartkeeper.com I choose this one because its primary gateway is Paypal which was easy for my client. its a one time fee of 100 bucks but no monthly fees. You also need to have a server that supports MySQL and PHP plus some knowledge.

I would suggest trying ASecureCart.net. I use it and have found it to be very good and also they have quick response support. Being a newbie I've had lots of questions and they have answered everyone in a timely manner and also throughly.
Hope this helps,

I've used OSCommerce on a couple of sites now, and have really liked it. One of the sites is now online, and you can see that I heavily customized the software:
