I have been a webmaster for several years but never really made money out of it. I figure since I love webdesign and everything so much, I figured It might be a good venture to start a reseller company. But I have a question, how can any of these make money when the big dogs, even ones that people are hosting their own company on, selling more for less?

Well, if you can't beat them on price look to a niche market or beat them on features. Thinkhost for example specialise in being 'green' with all their servers powered by renewable energy, they're targetting the people-concerned-about-the-planet niche! You could offer more MySQL databases for the same price, pre-install lots of software for the customer, or offer hosting specialised for a particular task (running e-commerce software for example).
Coming up with ways to beat the big boys on price and features is possible, what will be difficult is marketing that business and getting people to buy your hosting. That's where the cut-throat competition of the hosting business really gets tough.

My idea is it's going to be called "ZombieHost" targeted to webcomic authors and maybe other creative type stuff..
